He was given authority, glory, and sovereign power; all peoples, nations, and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed….the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came when they possessed the kingdom…Then the sovereignty, power, and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High, His Kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.
Daniel 7:14-27
After watching The Bucket List this weekend, I was struck that the character Jack Nicholson was playing could say with all conviction, that he didn't believe in a being that could create a whole world nor did this being have the ability to destroy a whole world. When you surround yourself with friends that have a similar belief as yourself, you tend to think that is the way everyone else thinks. What a shock to hear someone voice a statement like that. I was looking for lightning bolts!
Like my sweet little grandma used to say "……..a day is coming...”and then she would just sigh and look toward heaven and close her eyes in quiet communication with God. I find myself doing that more and more. My heart longs for a day of reckoning and judgment. A day when every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord. No tongue in cheek parodies mocking the God of the Universe.
Dear God,
Keep my heart pure and humble as I await a day that is coming – a day that will be like no other day in the history.
