There is nothing like floating on a lake that is 200 feet deep to give you an overwhelming feeling of insignificance. The fact that a device with less than one yard of orange material is all that is keeping you afloat and out of danger is an intimidating thought to a mediocre swimmer like myself. But, its buoyancy gives a false sense of empowerment. Can this God that I minimize by not allowing Him to help me with the everyday stuff in my life truly know the measure of water and be able to measure the weight of a mountain because He weighs it in a balance? What a mighty and awesome God that we serve that even the things that inspire awe in ourselves are but minuscule in His hands! The problems that keep us in a state of worry and defeat must cause Him to chuckle as we trudge along carrying them like a child’s blanket in the wet sand. What should be manageable becomes weighted down with the crud of life and it needs someone to clean and fluff it up again before we hold it next to our hearts. May God help us to learn to transfer our sight from the insurmountable in our lives to the omniscient scope of who He is.
