SUMMARY:

The Associate Minister/Pastor of Student & Family Ministries will be a part of the full-time ministry staff. This person will be expected to keep some regular office hours as a part of their work week in addition to any off-campus ministry activities. This position is designed to fill a 40-hour work week, with the understanding that there might be times where more hours are required to accomplish ministry goals. It will also be the expectation that the person who fills this role ensure at least one day each week, in addition Saturdays when available, be allocated for family, Christian growth, personal rest and refreshment.
This position will report to and be directly responsible to the Senior Pastor. This associate position will be expected to communicate with the Senior Pastor regularly about the dynamics of the ministries he/she is charged with leading and how they relate the mission, vision, and core values of the church. This will primarily take place during regularly scheduled staff meetings.

Possess an ability and desire to work in a team environment, involving others in planning and decision-making.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

It is preferred, but not required, that the Associate Minister/Pastor of Student & Family Ministries have a minimum bachelor's degree or comparable professional ministry experience. It is the expectation that this person should possess regular and definite educational and ministry training goals, showing continual progress toward stated goals through formal continuing education opportunities. Bethel Church will provide some continuing education funds per annum.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

A.      Bethel Youth Ministries
           
Develop short and long-term vision for Bethel's Youth Ministry (Grades 6-12) programming that works alongside the mission and vision of Bethel Church.
Plan annual special programming functions.  (Retreats, Camps, Conferences, Special Worship Gatherings, etc)
Recruit, train, and support volunteers to effectively minister to students through Sunday school, youth ministry functions, small groups, and special events.
Work alongside youth ministry team in communicating with youth, parents, and volunteers to inform and publicize youth ministry programming.
Attend events, when possible, outside of church programming in which Bethel Youth are involved.
Develop and maintain an annual youth ministry budget that coincides with mission, vision, and goals of the church and youth ministry objectives.
Work alongside church staff in the planning and implementation of the overall discipleship strategy for families.
Work with Director of Christian Education, and alongside Deacon and Elder over Education, in selecting curriculum for Sunday School.
Work alongside Director of Christian Education in the effective transition of students from Children's to Youth Ministry.
Develop and coordinate a ministry to Bethel's graduates/College-age students that helps retain their connection to the body while away at school and at home. This will involve working alongside the Higher Education Committee Director.
 
B.    Other Directed Responsibilities:
 
Participate in various on-campus events and outreach events geared at accomplishing the mission and vision of Bethel Church.
Assist and fill in for Senior Pastor as requested regarding the visitation of members (Hospital & Shut-Ins).
Participate in Sunday Worship Services as directed by the Senior Pastor, including, but not limited to, making announcements, assisting in offering of communion elements, and preaching from time to time as needed.
Assist in efforts to improve creative outlets for use within ministries and in promoting Bethel Church and its outreach, graphic arts, video communications, branding, outreach information, etc.
