Apply for This Job Family Ministries Director Harlem Road United Methodist Church Galena, OH Posted: September 13, 2021     Job Information: Position Title: Family Ministries Director Reports To: Lead Pastor General Description: Our church is searching for a full-time Family Ministries Director to provide vision and leadership to continue the spiritual growth of our Nursery - High School ministries. The director will be responsible for connecting with children, students, and parents to help empower our families to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. The director will also connect with a team of volunteers to help implement their vision for an effective and dynamic family ministry. Qualifications: -A growing disciple of Jesus Christ -Minimum of 5 years experience leading a Family Ministry program -Seminary/Graduate degree is preferred but not required -Satisfactory completion of background check and drug screening -Must adhere to Harlem Road United Methodist Church Safe Sanctuary Policy -Understanding and ability to teach from a Wesleyan viewpoint Skills Needed: -Ability to interact with children and youth in a positive way in order to nurture spiritual growth -Desire to work as a "team player" -Ability to integrate Family Ministries with other ministry teams in the church -Desire to grow personally and professionally -Creativity as to new ministry opportunities and making new disciples -Proficient with technology and communicating via social media -Detail oriented Specific Responsibilities: -Support the Lead Pastor in the overall vision casting and leadership of the church's teaching -Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for children and youth ministries -Build relationships with families in the congregation -Plan programming throughout the year to engage and encourage our children, youth, and families in their discipleship -Organize and plan confirmation classes -Provide pastoral care for children, youth, and families Description of Church: Located near Galena, Ohio, Harlem Road Church is a growing congregation with membership exceeding 450 people. Our congregation is comprised of a mix of ages with many young families and children. We draw members and visitors from 14 surrounding zip codes and have seen exponential growth of visitors as a result of our intentional use of online worship and social media within the last year. Our current Family Ministry model includes a strong Children's ministry that serves over 125 children through a variety of programming. Some of our most successful children's programs include a monthly Friday Nights Live Program inviting all community children for a night of dinner, activity, and learning that serves an average of 50 children. A strong Christmas Musical program, Sunday school, and a Vacation Bible School (called "Summer Nights Live") are some of our other children's programs that engage our kids. In addition, we have a student ministry that serves grades 6-12. This ministry meets weekly and engages in ongoing service opportunities throughout the year.
