Job Information:
Title: Director of Children's Ministries
Purpose: In collaboration with the Associate Pastor for Family Ministries, direct and support the spiritual formation and Christian education of children (from birth through 5th grade) and to administer related programs.
Responsibilities: Integrate ministry with children into the life of the church and involve children and families in congregational worship (including "Time with Children"). Implement a "stepping stones of faith" (with markers such as the 3rd grade Bibles, etc.) that encourages children to grow in faith and understanding. Coordinate Sunday school including: - use and distribution of curriculum and education resource management - call, equip, and support teachers and related leaders - coordinate and oversee paid and volunteer childcare staff Plan ongoing children's/family programs, including: Music & Discovery, American Girls, Tree Climbers, and other small groups for children Responsible for attending and planning seasonal events for children and families, such as: - Advent Workshop - Christmas Eve Nativity Pageant - All-Church Family Camp - Vacation Bible School - Family Movie Events Interface with San Marino Community Church Nursery School, including Nursery School chapel, proving leadership and support as needed Active involvement with community events Follow up with new member registrations and families who attend events and/or church services. Other duties as assigned, with the overall intent of providing resources and support for faith development within the family.
Personal Qualifications/Requirements: A firm faith commitment to Jesus Christ, the Reformed Tradition, and the Presbyterian Church (USA) Commitment to San Marino Community Church's vision and ministry, with ability to interpret to others Training in Christian education or equivalent experience Practical experience in teaching children, teacher training, and planning educational programs in a church setting Participation in Continuing Education. Excellent interpersonal skills, good communication and organization skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability work in a team setting.
Relationships: The Director of Children's Ministries reports to and is supervised by the Assistant Pastor for Family Ministries, and works directly with other clergy, program, administrative, and facility staff, church leaders and members.
