Initially the church began meeting in a local hotel. Over the next few years, the ministry was a "church in a box" as they continued to meet in schools. In 2009 VC renovated a warehouse and moved into permanent location, continued to grow from those early days and is enjoying a great season of ministry. Weekends at VC are awesome, and they are truly a celebration service. They offer lively, energetic worship experiences that are designed to be widely encompassing. The services are loud and upbeat, and usher people into the presence of God. They value authenticity, and no one claims to be perfect. VC is a church for imperfect people. Valley Church desires to be a church where people from any background & ethnicity can experience Jesus. The Creative Arts Director of Valley Church is the primary worship leader for all corporate worship services and is responsible for planning the Sunday morning worship gatherings as well as other worship events in conjunction with the Lead Pastor. This position requires a heart for Jesus and a heart for growing his church through leading people in worship. This role will require a constant pursuit of excellence both on and off stage, steady growth as a follower of Christ, and excellence in leading people. The successful candidate will preferably hold a 2-year or 4-year college degree and have 2 to 3 years of experience serving as the primary leader for adult corporate worship services. Beyond education, the candidate will demonstrate strong collaborative leadership skills that will function well in a multi-staff setting. In addition, the ideal candidate will be an adept musician and worship leader with the ability to manage the creative elements of VC, including their media presence, stage design, volunteer recruitment, video production, and technical needs. Valley Church is situated in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Harrisonburg, Virginia. Harrisonburg is known for its James Madison University and abundance of outdoor recreation, easy access to the Atlantic Ocean, a vibrant musical and cultural scene, historic sites ripe for exploring, shopping ranging from fine to funky, and picturesque strolls in a green and beautifully preserved environment. It's situated on I-81 that gives easy access to Washington DC, Pennsylvania, Richmond, and New York City.
