True Repentance

Isaiah 59:1, 2 “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.”

What do you think of when you consider being humbled and contrite? You can usually gauge the amount of repentance in your child’s heart when you see their countenance and look deep within their eyes. I have a daughter who would always cry when I looked deep in her eyes if she had done wrong. Usually when we were at the point where there were tears there was true repentance. Should our behavior warrant a different response because we are adults? There is something soothing and refreshing to our spirit when our eyes have been washed by tears, we stand open and bared before our Creator. When you consider your private and group times of praise and worship, have the tears ever fallen unbidden down your cheeks when the Lord is speaking deep to your spirit? Don’t be afraid to express your sorrow with tears or to let tears express your highest joy.
