We believe in being guided by the Holy Spirit in worship, prayer, fellowship, and community work. Our average attendance is 110 people, including children. Our Vision: To love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to be the hands, feet, heart, and voice of Christ. Our Mission: To share the good news of Jesus Christ with people of all ages and backgrounds, to help each other grow in faith and the knowledge of Jesus and God’s Holy Work, and to reflect the light of Jesus to our community and beyond. Position/Compensation This is a full-time Senior Pastor position,which is first accountable to Christ and second to the board of Elders. Salary will be competitive with other Senior Pastor positions in Marin County for similarly-sized churches. Factors will include, but will not be limited to, a candidate’s experience, education, and area housing costs. Role The Senior Pastor will teach the Word of God from the Bible. He will strive to be an example of Christ-like living in keeping with Scripture (1 Timothy 3:1-7). He should demonstrate evidence of a life of discipleship to Christ by giving wise, spiritual, and pastoral counseling, by supervising and working with others (staff and lay leadership), and by providing leadership and vision. He will assist the Elders in overseeing the life and direction of the church, and fully subscribe to the attached Lighthouse Christian Church Statement of Faith and Practice. Requirements: Education/Experience Formal biblical and/or theological training preferable (B.A. or higher in Theology or Biblical Studies), though equivalent work experience will be considered. Minimum three years’ experience in active, ordained leadership ministry as an Associate Pastor or a Senior Pastor. Responsibilities The Elder Board envisions the Senior Pastor’s major areas of responsibility to include the following, with the highest to lowest priority assigned in the order listed. Proclaimer and Teacher The Senior Pastor will function as our primary theologian, preacher, and teacher. He will develop sermons from the Bible, teaching biblical truths with the aim of glorifying the Trinity. He will be responsible for fostering the growth of our congregation, both spiritually and in membership. Spiritual Leadership He will faithfully seek God’s guidance and provision for the church by consistent devotion to personal prayer and Bible study. The Pastor will oversee our principle acts of faith, like Baptism, Communion, corporate prayer, and altar calls. He will provide oversight to the various men's and women’s Bible studies, children’s and youth ministries, with frequent involvement, providing direction as the Lord leads. Counselor He will make an effort to become acquainted with church members. He will remain reasonably available for counseling appointments, which may include some evenings and weekends. Administrative Leadership He will engage in the hiring and dismissal of staff, and will prioritize staff additions after consultation with the Elders. He will maintain a reasonably consistent office schedule for communication and availability to church members and staff. He will encourage all church members to participate in activities to further the church vision.
