Title: Director of Music Ministries Reports To: Senior Pastor
The Director of Music Ministries is to lead musicians and the congregation to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ through music, worship and fellowship. The Director must be creative, energetic, flexible and open to all types of music along with having a growing Christian faith. The Director will inspire and drive growth and variety of music initiatives; and must be able to work independently and prioritize workload.
Direct all music functions of Grace United Methodist Church in Hummelstown as an active member of the church's leadership team Work closely with the Pastor and the Worship Committee by actively participating in the worship planning to select and coordinate all worship music activities for all services throughout the Christian year Provide appropriate music for services on Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, and other special services as requested Provide service music, piano (required) and_noemailan (optional), on Sunday mornings and other planned worship services or events Collaborates and assists with Contemporary Service leader Provide leadership and support to coordinate the following: o Lay Volunteer Director(s) of the Children's Choirs for Angel Choir and Junior Praise Choir o Lay Volunteer Director(s) for the annual Children's Musical o Lay Volunteer Director of Bell Choir Attend regular meetings of the Church Council – Team Leaders in Christ Direct the Chancel Choir from September through the second week in June, in worship services and special services, including, but not limited to: Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Mother's Day and Veteran's Day Recruit new members for the choirs and seeks to improve the music program on an ongoing basis through fellowship and spiritual growth Coordinate with Christian Child Care and Preschool Directors to provide music biweekly for Daycare and Preschool programs Perform all other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications o High School Diploma required; Bachelor of Music degree preferred o A minimum of three (3) years of experience performing church music – both traditional and contemporary o Must have previous experience and working knowledge of choral rehearsal techniques and conducting o Must have or be able to obtain valid PA State Criminal Clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and an FBI Clearance
Additional Qualifications o Must be able to build and maintain relationships through effective_noemailmunication o Understand or have the ability to learn guiding laws regarding music (i.e. copyright, recording, etc. CCLI) o Strives to maintain professional, cooperative, and respectful relationships with leadership team and members of the congregation o Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be cooperative, congenial, service oriented, and a team player along with the ability to work with frequent interruptions o Must have the ability to_noemailanize, prioritize and multi-task,_noemailmunicate clearly and effectively, work independently, exercise good judgment and follow written and verbal directions
Physical Demands o Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time o Ability to use both hands for grasping and repetitive motions o Ability to lift/carry no more than 15 lbs. independently. o Visual and audio acuity including ability to read_noemailputer screens and written documents
Work Environment o Typical office setting subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. o Working hours are evenings and weekends – Sunday mornings and other times as required; the workweek will be negotiated as the position requires
