Position Title: Pastor Full-Time Ministerial Leadership Position
*Purpose of the Position The Pastor of the Church of the Good Shepherd (Baptist) serves as the spiritual leader and overseer of the congregation.
The Pastor is responsible for preaching the Word of God, administering the ordinances, guiding the spiritual life of the church, and leading the congregation in fulfilling its mission.
*Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Pastor shall: Preach and Teach – Proclaim the Gospel faithfully, lead worship, and teach biblical truth. Administer Ordinances and Rites – Conduct baptisms, the Lord's Supper, weddings, and funerals. Provide Spiritual Leadership – Watch over the membership and offer pastoral care and counseling. Lead Church Administration – Oversee staff, ministries, and programs in cooperation with the Board of Trustees, Board of Deacons, and Church Council. Engage the Community – Represent the Church in the community and encourage outreach and missions. Model Stewardship and Accountability – Demonstrate faithful stewardship of time, finances, and ministry responsibilities.
*Reporting and Relationships The Pastor is accountable to the Church Congregation and collaborates closely with: The Board of Deacons (for spiritual matters), The Board of Trustees (for business and property matters), and The Church Council (for coordination of ministries).
*Term and Evaluation The Pastor serves indefinitely until the relationship is ended by resignation or church vote per the Constitution. The church may conduct annual evaluations through the Board of Trustees to ensure alignment with ministry goals and spiritual growth. *Desired Personal Qualities A servant leader with a heart for God's people. Spiritually mature and emotionally grounded. A good listener and effective communicator. Compassionate, humble, and approachable. Encourages teamwork, unity, and discipleship within the church family.
*Compensation and Benefits Compensation will be discussed based on experience, qualifications, and available church resources.
