Crossroads Community Church Ridgecrest, CA Posted: May 09, 2025
Job Information:
Crossroads was established in 1990 when it was obvious our community could benefit from a different kind of church. Patterned after Willow Creek Community Church, our goal was to reach the unchurched or the poorly churched. At the time, we considered ourselves to be a "seeker church." Beginning as a home Bible study, Crossroads grew to an average weekly attendance of approximately 500. Great music, dramas, active life groups, robust missions work in the local community, and sermons that were relevant to a seeker of that day were our mainstay. It was and still is our goal to establish an environment where both mature Christians and those just exploring their faith are comfortable, learning, and growing. We remain steadfast in our mission: To glorify God by encouraging unchurched people into a fully devoted relationship with Jesus Christ.
Post-COVID our attendance is stable yet smaller with weekly attendance around 250. An approach to effectively reach people today, is now more elusive to us. How a spiritually curious "seeker" thinks and feels is less clear to us. As a result, while Crossroads has a solid foundation from which to build, we recognize we are perhaps in need of a shift in approach as we look to backfill behind our retiring senior pastor.
