Basic Function The Director of Family Ministry is responsible for the development and implementation of a creative and vibrant program of fellowship and spiritual formation for youth and children. Although some aspects of this position relate to traditional Sunday morning activities, it is anticipated that the Director of Youth and Children's Ministry may be developing programs at times other than Sunday mornings to meet the needs of a world that no longer reserves Sunday for church activities.
Duties and Responsibilities Leads the work of the Christian Education Committee Recruits, trains and supervises Nursery volunteers and paid nursery staff Along with Christian Education Committee, recruits, trains and supports Sunday School Teachers Coordinates Vacation Bible School Plans special activities and regular programming for children and youth Develops relationships with families who have children in the church Assists Pastor in planning and implementing confirmation program Provides children's sermon on a regular basis in worship, as determined with Pastor Participates in weekly staff meetings
Duties may be added or deleted at any time verbally or in writing
Relationship to Minister, Staff and Congregation Reports directly to Pastor/Head of Staff and supervises Christian Education volunteers and paid nursery workers. Works collegially with church staff.
