Alpha Baptist Church Livonia, MI Posted: October 19, 2024
Job Information:
Alpha Baptist Church is a biblically grounded church looking for a senior pastor who can lead the congregation into Great Commission living.
Who we are: We are a stable congregation with a long history of love, caring, growth and development. We are an American Baptist church; we are theologically conservative, believing that scripture is the inerrant Word of God. We are welcoming and committed to outreach, but we struggle with our ability to reach the lost. Post-COVID attendance has been running below 50. We have a strong core of believers who are dedicated to growth and forward thinking. We love the Lord, we love His Word, we love each other. We are a prayerful congregation. We are a giving congregation – both of our time and our financial resources. We believe in supporting missions both at home and abroad. Our music ministry is a blend of both contemporary songs and traditional hymns. While our congregation currently leans toward older (50+), we do have younger families with kids and a children's program. We have a history of treating our pastors well.
Where we are: We are in Livonia, a large 100,000-person suburb of metro Detroit. We are located in the middle of a thriving neighborhood. The communities around us are very diverse – in both ethnicity and age. We are located near elementary, middle and high schools – all in the highly rated Livonia Public School system.
What we are looking for: A pastor who is ready to lead us toward reaching the lost that surround Alpha. One who is called by God to share his faith through preaching, teaching, relationships, and intentionally engaging those parts of the world that don't yet know Jesus. One who is able to work with a mix of new converts and seasoned saints as we navigate together the changes we need to make to grow Alpha and God's kingdom. The senior pastor is the only clergy on staff, so we'd like someone who feels secure and comfortable in allowing the congregation to support him in ministry, allowing us to help you carry the load. Most importantly – one who is biblically grounded, who will challenge us to spiritual growth, and teach us how to win souls for God's kingdom. We're ideally looking for a full-time pastor, but are willing to consider other arrangements, depending on the candidate's situation.
Our services/amenities: We currently have Sunday morning worship services (with children's program and nursery at the same time), adult Bible study during Sunday School hour, Wednesday night Bible study, monthly all-church breakfast. We also host events geared toward drawing the community in, like Trunk or Treat, an annual Christmas gala for ladies, etc. We are an Operation Christmas Child drop-site church, having served in this capacity for five years. We house and operate Foster Closet of Western Wayne County, providing clothing and resources for many of the needy in our community. You have to see it to believe it! Our "campus" consists of the church building (three floors), a parsonage (secluded in a park-like property) and a Family Life Center (includes a gym and full kitchen) which is also used by numerous community organizations.
Interested candidates should send resume to Lee Ann Welsh at leeann_welsh@yahoo.com.
