Job Description The Assistant/Associate Pastor at Restoration promotes the vision of "exalting God, living restored, and declaring His restoration" to the congregation. The pastor is to be a servant leader to the congregation and an example of Jesus Christ. The pastor will uphold the ministry philosophy and values of the Restoration and develop ministries to achieve the mission of the church. The candidate leads and ministers alongside the Lead Pastor and Servant Leadership Team and develops staff members and lay leaders within the congregation.
Church Description We are a ~60 person congregation. We are a mix of families, some singles and some retirees. The majority of our church community lives within 15 miles of our place of worship which is a rented hall on the border of San Gabriel and San Marino. We have been a church community for seven years. We started out as a church plant from First Chinese Baptist Church Los Angeles. That said, we do not limit ourselves in focusing on being an Asian American church. Our congregation has been self-sustaining for two years. Our lay person staff are seasoned Christians. We are seeking to grow our children's ministry, youth ministry and small group ministry. We desire to transition out of a pandemic mindset and reconnect with our local community.
Role Expectations Leadership -Supports and collaborates with Lead Pastor in fostering church spiritual health and church administrative work. -Sets spiritual direction for youth ministry and church small group ministry.
Communication -Aids in communicating vision, values and direction of the church. -Teaches God's Word effectively to varying spiritual maturity levels: youth, families, new Christians, and seasoned disciples.
Ministry & Staff Development -Collaborates with Lead Pastor and Servant Leadership Team in supporting church ministries, specifically the Life Group Ministry and Children & Youth Ministries. -Care for support staff and Servant Leadership Team
Congregation Care -Respond to immediate and pressing needs of the congregation. -Assist in providing personal care and counseling in situations like hospital visits, crisis care, and benevolence as needed.
This role is a great opportunity if: You have: -A relevant ministry-oriented graduate degree from an accredited seminary -2+ years of pastoral experience in a full-time ministry setting leading ministry lay leaders, interns, or other paid staff. -An ability to effectively handle Scripture and deliver transformational messages that build, motivate, and promote spiritual growth. -The spiritual gift of administration or are energized by providing structure in an organization.
You are: -A Servant Leader who is teachable, humble and a person of high integrity (Your character aligns with 1 Timothy 3:2-12 and Titus 1:7-9). -Someone who enjoys working with people especially children, youth, young families, and seasoned Christian lay workers. -Encouraging, compassionate, and uplifting to people of God who may need extra care. -Passionate about reaching others outside of church and discipling believers.
