Apply for This Job Associate Pastor of Family Minitries First Baptist Church of Forsyth Forsyth, GA Posted: August 08, 2022     Job Information: The Associate Pastor of Family Ministries is a full-time position, which provides leadership for ministry to the Children, Students (teens), and their Parents of First Baptist Church (FBC). They will direct and assist in the areas of education, fellowship, and administration in cooperation with other ministers of the church reporting directly to the Senior Pastor. This person should be one who loves young people and the family. He/She should have a desire to see others loving and serving Christ in tangible ways, studying God's word, and living in Christ-centered community. The desire of First Baptist Church is to see families growing in Christ, knowing Him deeply, and serving others in His name. Primary Function: The Associate Pastor of Family Ministries is responsible for coordinating and promoting opportunities for worship, discipleship, outreach, service, and fellowship that engage children, teens, and their families with the larger church and community. Responsibilities: Coordinate and assist in equipping volunteers for family ministry. Provide and assist with opportunities for Worship, Discipleship, Evangelism, Outreach and service. Engage with the local community. Be present in the lives of students, children, and families on their "turf." (Schools, after school activities, etc.) Prepare an annual budget for children and student ministries to be reviewed by the Senior Pastor and Financial Team and approved by the church membership. Develop ministry teams for each area to co-lead in those areas (Student Ministry and Children) Build and maintain relationships with students and children (including members and prospects), parents and volunteers in the congregation. Qualifications and Skills Required Technology: Demonstrate competence and creativity with social media, Competence in word processing and publishing software. Ability to operate Audio and Video equipment or willing to learn. Initiative: Provides energetic leadership for events and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as they grow in skills and experience. Atmosphere: Creates a sense of joy, belonging and fun at Student and Children Ministry events and activities which encourages participation Spiritual Formation/Discipleship: Demonstrates an understanding of spiritual formation/discipleship as a journey or process with focus on building relationships, and service to community; invites others into theological reflection; creates teaching and small-group environments that promote discipleship; teaches a variety of spiritual practices to lead others in deepening their faith Creativity and Innovation: Generates new ideas; makes new connections and partnerships to strengthen programs; takes acceptable risks in pursuit of innovation; learns from mistakes; has good judgement about which creative ideas and suggestions will work. Hospitality/Accessibility: Generates a sense of hospitality and accessibility by his/her presence; communicates a sense of availability, warmth, openness and approachability; fosters natural connections with Students and Children in the congregation as well as prospects. Influencing Others: Encourages others to cooperate, participate, provide resources or make decisions, in service to work at hand; encourages long-term friendships among the students and children; generates energy, passion and commitment to activities and values of the church. Pastoral Care/Counseling: Demonstrates the ministry of presence; creates a spirit of openness that invites those who are spiritually or emotionally troubled to confide in her/him; demonstrates appropriate pastoral boundaries, recognizing his/her own limitations as a care provider. Education: Bachelor's degree desired; seminary degree or enrollment is a plus. Leadership Development: Encourages others to discover and engage their giftedness and skills in service to the larger community; calls out the best in others; supports others in the development of their skills and abilities; actively seeks to engage adults in the leadership of Student and Children's ministries; thinks strategically about the continual need for a next generation of leaders and works to build the leadership base. Experience preferred: One year as leader of an organized church student or children program/parachurch ministry, or two years volunteering in an established program. Travel requirement: Able to attend and be present at local events students/children are involved in. Mostly local travel, but some out of town travel for retreats, camps, conferences, and mission experiences. Key competencies: Ability and comfortable with sharing Christ with students/children. Ability to teach and inspire students/children. Familiar with the popular culture. Other: Conduct ministry activities with honesty and integrity, able to maintain confidentiality. Dependable work ethic and able to work as a team member with other ministerial staff.
