Apply for This Job Senior Pastor Cedarhome Baptist Church Stanwood, WA Posted: June 24, 2022     Job Information: Cedarhome Baptist Church is looking for a well-trained, experienced, and biblically qualified pastor-elder to serve on our eldership team as Pastor for Preaching and Leadership. He should be a visionary leader, committed to the accurate exposition and application of God's word. He should have a proven history of equipping leaders and effectively discipling congregations. This is a full-time position. Job Duties: Oversee and Execute Preaching and Teaching This includes not only the study and preaching of weekly messages but also the planning of a preaching calendar that includes expository preaching through multiple genres and both Testaments of the Bible so as to feed the church a healthy diet of the full counsel of God. This would also include coordination and planning with the other Elders who are able to preach and teach on occasion in your absence and in conjunction with you. Oversee and Execute Sunday Services The Pastor for Preaching and Leadership should dedicate some of his time and energy to coordinate with the music ministry, the administrative staff, the sound ministry, and those performing announcements and corporate prayer in order to ensure that each Sunday service is one that is both orderly and instructive to the church body for the ultimate purpose of being worshipful to God. Specifically, there should be effort on behalf of the Preaching Pastor and the Music Minister to coordinate the message of the sermon on any given Sunday with the themes of the selected worship songs and the rest of the order of service. Oversee the Discipleship of Families Cedarhome believes that the qualification for eldership and deaconship require that men lead their households well. While this is a requirement for the office of elder or deacon, it is something that all Christian men are called to pursue. The Pastor for Preaching and Leadership will, together with the elders and deacons, endeavor to promote a culture where this is realized and will include leading by example, by instruction, and by exhortation, correction, and encouragement. Oversee and Execute the Training of Elders, Preachers and Teachers The Pastor for Preaching and Leadership will work with other Elders to mentor and train those in the congregation who demonstrate gifting for preaching and teaching God's Word. We desire that the Pastor for Preaching and Leadership join the other Elders in identifying, encouraging, and training these men. Specifically, the Pastor for Preaching and Leadership is to provide mentorship and training in the practice and skill of studying God's Word and in crafting and delivering messages to God's people from God's Word. General Shepherding As a member of the eldership, the Pastor for Preaching and Leadership is expected to regularly attend and participate in monthly Elders' Meetings, provide general pastoral care and Biblical counseling to members, participate in the pastoral care and visitation rotation and provide encouragement and support to the other ministries overseen by his fellow Pastor-Elders. Oversee day-to-day activities of paid church staff The Pastor for Preaching and Leadership will be the primary leader of the paid staff. In this leadership role, he will ensure week-to-week activities are coordinated and aligned to the vision, mission and standards set forth by the elders and deacons of the church. He does not have responsibility for hiring or firing, or Human Resource functions, but is merely responsible to refer such issues to the elders and deacons as needed for resolution.
