CONTEMPORARY MUSIC LEADER
The ideal candidate would be creative, patient, organized, accepting, encouraging and demonstrates familiarity with contemporary Christian worship music. The Contemporary Music Leader shall be responsible to the Session of the church through the Worship Committee and shall be supervised by the Pastor.
Position Responsibilities Accepts responsibility for overall contemporary music planning, preparation, practice and performance; schedules, rehearses and directs the Contemporary Worship team Joyfully and professionally leads and inspires the congregation in praising God through contemporary Christian music Strives (along with the Pastor and Director of Music) to make the music program an integral part of the services of worship by selecting appropriate music and continuing efforts to improve the quality of music in the life of the congregation and our services Prepares and maintains a rehearsal space suitable for band practice Stays alert, along with others, for joint musical opportunities and worship experiences utilizing the talents of all groups within the church Designs or assists, upon request, music programs in cooperation with other church groups or activities such as Sunday school, VBS or special programs Recruits and enlists singers and musicians through careful and purposeful selection and screening process while appropriately utilizing the talents and abilities within COA resources Performs duties in a professional manner to include providing weekly music to the church office by Tuesday of each week prior to Sunday services and by arriving early enough on Sunday mornings for set up and rehearsal with the band members Develops a list of substitutes and holds responsibility for supplying substitutes when needed Ensures tracking of music performed, including any costs associated for all Contemporary Worship services; maintains contemporary music library as appropriate Maintains CCLI licenses; obeys all copyright laws Communicates regularly with Music Director and the Worship Committee as to music equipment, its care and budgetary needs Works regularly with the Technology Committee to enhance in-person and virtual service offerings Acts as an ex-officio member of the Worship Committee and attends their meetings Complies with all church regulations related to health and safety (i.e. Covid-19) Other tasks as needed
Schedule This position will require 6-10 hours per week year-round
September through May Coverage of weekly worship services (approximately 3 hours on Sundays) Weekly rehearsal with contemporary band and vocalists and preparation for rehearsal Mid-June through mid-September More flexible Alternating of music leadership for a single worship service
Salary Range: approximately $900-1100 per month commensurate with experience and qualifications
