JOB SUMMARY
As our Next Gen Pastor, you will be an integral member of our Ministry Team by reaching, teaching, and loving our youth and young adults while discipling them so that they grow in their faith and become more like Christ. You will partner with and support our Children’s Ministry staff and volunteers (for birth to fifth grade). You will work hands-on each week with our Youth Ministry (6th - 12th grade), and develop strategies and volunteers to minister to college students and young adults. This role offers the exciting opportunity to build on, continue to develop and put your own unique fingerprint on how we help transform the next generation into fully devoted followers of Christ.
SUPERVISION
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Positions Supervised: Children’s Ministry Director, interns, volunteers
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
• Sustain and develop a comprehensive growth strategy for grades K through 12.
• Provide opportunities for worship, fellowship and teaching on Sunday and other day(s)
GENERAL
• Attend worship service and church events and encourage youth to do likewise
• Continue growth and development through conferences, reading, and exchange of ideas
• Develop strategies to encourage church-wide participation in Youth ministries
• Promote missions with youth as part of the vision of the church youth
LEADERSHIP TRAINING
• Recruit, disciple, equip and empower volunteers
• Provide frequent communication, encouragement and evaluation for leaders
• Identify leadership potential in youth and provide opportunities for development
• Evaluate and recommend teaching materials and methods for all youth programs
• Advise and resource all youth leaders throughout youth ministry programs
CORE DUTIES
• Ensure youth small groups maintain a balanced program of spiritual and social growth
• Be acquainted with personal lives of the young people (either directly or through youth leaders).
Visit homes, attend school events, and make hospital visits. This also includes being aware of
current youth development, culture, social media, etc
• Support & encourage youth to attend youth service and church-sponsored events
• Ensure students are taught and charged with their responsibility of outreach
ADMINISTRATIVE
• Maintain a well-planned, balanced schedule coordinated with the church calendar
• Establish ministry goals and evaluate them, measuring processes and outcomes
• Ensure responsibilities for all events are understood by Youth leaders
• Pre-schedule all activities in their entirety, including post-activity plans and communicate to staff,
parents, and youth in a timely fashion.
ACCOUNTABILITY
• Fully engage with TBC Ministry Team for prayer and planning
• Attend monthly feedback sessions with Senior Pastor and/or Associate Pastor
• Ensure weekly interaction with Leadership Team for mutual accountability
Salary Range: Commensurate with Education/Experience
