Organist Position Vacancy - Grace United Methodist Church
Grace UMC, Wilmington, NC is seeking a permanent part-time organist for immediate hire. GUMC is a thriving congregation with a long-standing reputation for its quality music program. The music is traditional with an eclectic mixture of repertoire. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Music Ministries and is responsible to prepare and perform music on piano and Möller Pipe Organ, supplemented by a Rodgers Midi-Digital Organ, during traditional weekly Sunday worship services (8:30 am and 11:00 am) as well as special worship services. The role of this position is to help shape worship through the musical experience.
Position Overview: Possesses a high level of accomplishment in organ and piano performance Provides supportive, flexible and sensitive accompaniment to the Chancel Choir and soloists Provides spiritual leadership through music in support of the worship services Demonstrates musical versatility, attention to detail, organization, and diligent preparation Demonstrates exemplary sight-reading and strong interpersonal skills Participates in weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals This is a permanent part-time position averaging 16 hours per week (including practice and performance)
Qualifications: Demonstrates passion about the Christian faith and committed to the mission of spreading the love of Jesus Christ 2 years experience in organ/piano leadership in worship is preferred Knowledge and experience with hymn selection, liturgy, worship themes and special services

Process for Interview and Audition: Interview of selected candidates including an audition of organ prelude, hymn, and postlude as selected by the candidate Finalists will accompany a brief choir rehearsal with proper COVID-19 protocols in place
