Westwood Presbyterian Church Los Angeles, CA Posted: December 01, 2020
Job Information:
For over seven decades, Westwood Presbyterian Church (WPC) has served the west side of Los Angeles with energy and compassion. Located just south of Westwood Village and UCLA, WPC is a progressive community that welcomes all with a devotion to doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with our God.
WPC is seeking an inspiring and innovative Director of Children & Family Ministries (DCFM). This person is responsible for nurturing faith and a sense of excitement and joyful belonging among our youngest members and visitors, while building a community of families. The Director will accomplish this through maintaining and expanding the children's Sunday School program (kindergarten -5th grade) and nursery (newborn - preschool), developing and promoting family-related church activities, and supporting the children's music program.
Our new DCFM should embody a strong sense of calling to the spiritual development and Christian education of children as well as a deep and abiding faith evidenced by a commitment to Christian values and a spirit of inclusiveness (including our LGBTQ+ members). We are looking for someone who finds creative solutions and is able to attract and retain the interest of new families to the church. The Director should also exhibit dedication to servant leadership, building teams, and recruiting and training volunteers.
Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field and/or certified Christian Educator; experience working closely with children of varied ages; and a background in child development, teaching techniques, classroom management, preparing and implementing curricula, and planning events.
This is an exciting time at WPC, and you will definitely be able to come in and make your mark. Though we are currently offering this as a full-time position, we are flexible and could make this a 30-hour/week, salaried role with benefits included if the chosen ideal candidate prefers. Job duties would be tailored according to the skills and interests of the applicant and the applicant’s role at WPC.
Please submit your resume and cover letter to DCFMSearch@westwoodpres.org. More information about the position can be found at https://www.westwoodpres.org. Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you.
