Job Description:
POSITION--The Director of Youth Ministries is a full-time position. The primary focus is on youth ministry in the context of an active Methodist congregation. It is an exempt position that does not require ordination and the Director will be an employee of the Kingman United Methodist Church. The Director will focus on and direct the energies of the whole church toward developing a sustainable, Christ-centered ministry with the youth of our church.
EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES--We are looking for a person who in their own life seeks to love God, follow Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and who feel called to minister youth. The candidate must have excellent skills in communication, both oral and written, organization, and interpersonal relationships, as well as be a member of good standing in our church. This person will have experience in leading a variety of programs for youth. This person must possess the necessary training and/or experience to plan, organize, and develop a program that engages other adult event leaders, the congregation, and Pastor in the activities of the church youth. The ability to facilitate and lead events that engage and involve all of the young people is important.
It is preferred that this person have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college in a field related to the work involved as a youth minister. Professional experience is preferred along with experience as a youth director or equivalent work experience in a closely related field. Additional specifice training in the youth ministry field is preferred.
