Job Description:
The position of Minister to Children and Young Families is a newly created full-time position designed to strengthen and develop the faith of children and to help parents to discover their God given role as the primary Godly influence for their own children. This person will be responsible for comprehensive ministry to children, ages birth to 6th grade and to help equip those parents to disciple their children. This person will also have responsibility over our Awana program. As we diligently seek the person God is preparing for this ministry we are seeking a minister who can support families in guiding their children to know, love, serve, share, and worship God in a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ. The position will help to shape and develop Sunday School programs, worship activities, special events, and more. We seek a spiritually mature, enthusiastic Christ follower with some level of previous ministry experience in growing and developing a ministry focused on the needs of children and young families. The person should be experienced and comfortable with recruiting, organizing and educating volunteers for this ministry. We are looking for an individual who shows initiative, someone who wants to truly build a ministry as opposed to be a caretaker of it. This person needs to have leadership ability and the ability to cast ministry vision and mobilize others toward that vision. Desired background includes a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (seminary degree preferred), previous ministry experience, and an understanding of the cognitive development of children. The church will also be providing a part time paid preschool ministry associate to be of help to the Minister to Children and Young Families.
First Baptist New Braunfels is an established southern baptist church in the heart of New Braunfels, TX. We are conservative in theology but looking to become more progressive in ministry practice. At the heart of our ministry is the desire to glorify God through our worship, work, and witness. Jesus is exalted through the preaching and teaching of His Word in an expository approach. We are well established in the Word but a fresh approach to ministry is taking hold. A fresh, exciting ministry to children and young families will provide a powerful avenue to reach many new families moving into the hill country area

We have two highly regarded school systems, fabulous rivers, lakes, a vibrant downtown, and great neighborhoods. New Braunfels is located off of I35 north of San Antonio and south of Austin. It is in the heart of the Texas hill country and is a very popular place to both visit and live.
