Area of Ministry: Director of Youth MinistriesReports to: Pastor of Discipleship
General Description: Provide oversight to all areas of Youth ministry.
Requirements:
An ongoing and maturing relationship with Jesus Christ.
A degree in a related field (Youth Ministry or Education) and/or five successful years experience in a church with membership over 500.
An ability to develop and implement age level appropriate ministries for youth 6th through 12th grade that provide opportunities in the areas of prayer, presence, gifts, service and witness.
An ability to work with adults in training and supervision of youth and their families.
Proficient at recruiting, training, organizing, overseeing and retaining adult leaders.
A proven track record of leadership skills, motivating, developing and empowering others.
Possess leadership skills to be a vision caster and a team player.
Current with contemporary student youth culture.
An ability to implement and maintain policies and procedures that provide a safe, quality, Christ-centered environment for youth.
An ability to anticipate and plan for curriculum needs; ability to administer and manage budget and calendar.
An ability to speak and write effectively.
Duties:
Communicate regularly with parents and those serving in ministry with youth regarding schedules, events, and changes.
Develop a team approach to youth ministry by recruiting, training and equipping effective leaders.
Promote and facilitate a safe atmosphere as outlined in Burks Minor Protection Policy.
Administer and coordinate the youth Sunday school ministry and youth Wednesday and Sunday evening programs.
To be readily available to counsel youth and/or their parents regarding youth and parenting issues.
To coordinate weekly programs for youth including but not limited to Sunday school, a weekly youth group meeting, and family-based activities that are worshipful, fun, relevant, and effective in instructing, training, nurturing, and launching youth into Christian service.
Provide Biblically-based teachings rooted in the most current educational approaches.
To regularly visit youth and their families.
To conduct regular parent meetings.
To connect with school administration and occasionally visit students at school.
Develop and implement a plan for the tracking of active and inactive youth.
Supervise any church-wide special events that include retreats, mission trips, projects and youth conferences.
Meet regularly with youth leaders and youth council for the purpose of planning and special events.
Participate in the teaching and learning process with youth thereby modeling effective instructional methods for teachers.
Coordinate the team approach of developing the youth ministry discipleship goals, direction, mis
