Montreat Presbyterian Church, an active-member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) located in Montreat, North Carolina is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Director of Music. This is a full-time, salaried position requiring 45-50 hours per week. Candidates should possess a strong commitment to Jesus Christ and have a good understanding of Scripture as the timeless, inerrant Word of God. In addition, candidates must be capable of working well with volunteers, having the ability to encourage them while developing high quality musical content and presentation, have good verbal and written communication skills, and possess effective planning and organizational skills.
Ideal candidates would be accomplished pianists/keyboardists capable of playing a wide variety of musical genres ranging in tempo and style from contemplative to upbeat. Familiarity with both traditional hymns and contemporary praise songs is required. Candidates should be proficient at sight-reading music, as well as vocal and choral direction. The ability to train and direct small vocal groups of 4 to 6 persons in addition to a larger choir is highly desirable.
Candidates must exhibit knowledge and skill in working with children. Candidates must be willing to develop a program that will effectively teach music skills to children and youth.
