Job Description:
First Church has a long tradition of evangelical theological commitment. For decades, First Church has given expression to creative ministries that present the eternal gospel in new ways. First Church does primarily contemporary worship, with quality music and video elements. The services are designed to enable worshipers to experience an intimate relationship with God.
The Director of Worship Arts will demonstrate a strong commitment to Jesus Christ while participating in the development and implementation of fine arts ministries at First Church. The Worship Arts Director works in tandem with the Senior Pastor, the Worship Leader/Director of Media Productions, Children's Choir Director and other staff to create an enhanced worship experience.
The First Church staff operate as a team in creative & thematic planning & leading worship; thus, the Worship Arts Director must exhibit strong teamwork skills. Egos are parked off-site.
Skills
Administrative ability; attention to detail
Ability to write musical parts
Keyboard competency
Conducting skills, especially choral
Recruit, train, deploy musicians
Maintain lay volunteer morale
Plan and lead worship
Pray aloud in public settings
Basic knowledge of sound and lyric presentation equipment
Love for a variety of music, especially contemporary Christian
Responsibilities
Direct or serve in a consultative/oversight role for Worship Team(s), Adult, Youth, Children's & Bell Choirs & Instrumentalists
Coordinate special services (e.g. wedding, funeral, VBS)
Develop and oversee Worship Arts budget
Select, purchase and supervise maintenance of resources (supplies & equipment, church music, Choir Room, choir robes, bells, and piano)
