Job Description:
Part time worship leader sought to lead a contemporary, family friendly, creative service. One Sunday service and one practice a week.
Mission statement: The primary purpose of the Stream Worship Leader at Carmel United methodist Chu4ch is to bring glory to God through contemporary Christian music as leading the worship team and worship in THE STREAM
Accountability: This position will report to the Lead Pastor of THE STREAM
Summary: The Stream Worship Leader is to be a Christian in good standing having a passion for music, worship, and the Lord. As a growing Christian, also responsible for self care of his/her own spiritual life through regular disciplines such as prayer and Bible study. Does not need to be a United Methodist but must have an understanding of the teachings and sacraments per United Methodist doctrine. The worship leader needs to be a vocalist and/or instrumentalist as needed to compliment the talent of the volunteers in the band.
Position Accountabilities:
lead Musician:
a. assign parts for music to band members
b. establish desired level of quality, tone, and mix
c. lead all band rehearsals but if gone, designate substitute
d. provide ongoing growth of band member and self through education
e. prayerfully make music selection for worship working with Lead Paster and band members as needed. Share your expertise considering band and worshipper's singing range. Select congregational songs and minimize solos
Chief Technician
a. set up technology and/or designate others for worship. Work with custodians as needed
b. schedule sound technician
c. train volunteers for audio operation. Anticipate replacement needs for absences and turnover
d. Work with lead Pastor to determiine purchase of equipment as allowed by budget
e. acquire music and equipment, and repair, as needed for band
Administration
a. work with lead Pastor determining service order
b. ascertain that every piece of music follows CCLI rules
c. coordinate band and sound tech scheduling for worship servies
d. empoer and encourage band members to assist with adminstrative work
e. work with the Lead Pastor prayerfully when replacement of band members needed
Leading worship
a. encourage and educate worshippers to sing and participate in the music
b. make an inviging first impression for worship
c. demonstrate spiritutal leadership through stage presence
d. make eye contact with the worshippers. memorize music as becomes familiar so flows out of you
e. encourage and educate members of band to share role as worhsip leader in preparation for times Worship Leader is away
f. interested in current trends in worship leading and stays abreast of them through continuing education activities
g. available to pariticpate and/or plan occasional "extra" worship experiences for Stream band
