Job Description:
This is a 15-20 hour per week position paying $10-$14 per hour commesurate with experience.
Title: Praise Team Director
Purpose: To direct the music ministry of Brookdale Presbyterian Church for the Contemporary Service, utilizing music, drama, technology and the like to the end that the congregation would be meaningfully led into the presence of God.
Accountability: The Praise Team Director is accountable to the Senior Pastor and to the Session through its Personnel Committee.
Responsibilities:
1. To oversee and coordinate all ministries of music in the Contemporary
Service.
2. To lead praise and worship on a regular basis.
3. To serve on the Worship Work Group
4. To plan all worship services in conjunction with the Senior Pastor
a. To consult with the Senior Pastor regarding the theme of each service
of worship and special programs.
b. To keep music current, spiritually impacting and time sensitive.
5. To recruit, train, develop and provide leadership for the Praise Teams.
a. To schedule and lead rehearsals prior to each worship service.
6. To recruit musicians for special music.
7. To work collaboratively with Choir Director and Organist on combined
services.
8. To work collaboratively with the Audio/ Visual Tech Coordinator to address
the special needs of worship in this area.
9. To help maintain a music library that includes a song list of Praise and
Worship songs.
10. To build community among members of the second service worship team.
11. To provide encouragement so that Praise Team members can continue to grow
in their gifts and abilities.
Relationships: Under the direction of the Senior Pastor, the Praise Team Director shall serve on the Worship Work Group and shall participate as a member of the church staff. And it is strongly preferred that the Praise Team Director participate as an active part of the church body. The relationship of Director of Worship and Music for the Contemporary Service to the Director of the Adult Choir, Organist, A/V Tech, and other potential music staff must be one of collaboration and support.
