Worship Leader for Alternative Worship
Trinity Bible Church is an independent, evangelical congregation in Phoenix, Arizona founded in 1968 with Sunday morning attendance of 500. Our mission is "to make whole and devoted followers of Christ out of broken people". We are one church in two expressions
We are seeking a Worship Leader for an “Alternative” worship gathering, targeting adults in their 20s and 30s. Our current Sunday morning services incorporate diverse elements integrated as appropriate (readings, drama, liturgy, choral anthems, dance and testimonies) with musical styles ranging from classic hymns to contemporary Christian rock. Our desire is to offer an alternative worship gathering to our current “blended” gathering.
Beginning in September 2008, we have an opportunity for a part-time worship leader to serve as an assistant worship leader under the oversight of our full-time Pastor of Worship Arts.
The Worship Leader for the Alternative service will focus on recruiting, developing, and leading the music and production teams for this “emerging” style worship gathering.
The Worship Leader for the Alternative service position is part-time (12-18 hours per week)
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
1. Exhibit a genuine love for Christ and for all people
2. Consistently pursue integrity, spiritual maturity and the fruit of the Spirit (I Timothy 3, Titus 1 and Galatians 5)
3. Be capable in administration, organization and shepherding
4. Be an accomplished musician, able to lead vocally with additional ability on at least one instrument (piano or guitar preferred)
5. Relate well to adults in their 20s and 30s
6. Be an effective communicator of musical direction
7. Exhibit relational skills needed to recruit, train, and encourage team members to lead the congregation at worship
8. Be a team player with a solid work ethic; humble, cooperative and helpful
MUSIC / PRODUCTION RESPONSIBILITITES
• Discover and utilize songs which are biblically and theologically consonant with Trinity’s beliefs and practices
• Utilize non-music forms of congregational participation
• Recruit and mobilize other qualified musicians
• Recruit and mobilize qualified sound and video techs
• Lead rehearsals; coordinate the overall flow of the gathering
WORSHIP LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITITES
• Plan and execute the weekly worship flow in partnership with the Pastor of Worship Arts
• Lead the congregation in corporate acts of worship (adoration, praise, lament, submission, etc.)
OTHER RELATIONSHIPS
• The Assistant Worship Leader for the Alternative service will meet weekly with the Pastor of Worship Arts for service planning and ministry coordination.
• The Assistant Worship Leader for the Alternative service will meet weekly with the Support and Pastoral staff to integrate more fully with the Trinity ministry at large.
