Director of Worship MinistriesThe mission of Bethesda's Worship Ministries is to provide corporate worship experiences which proclaim the saving work of God through Jesus Christ. As God's desire is for His children to be reconciled to Him and others through his Son, in Worship Ministries our desire is to give people an opportunity to receive and respond to the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in gathered worship. We pray that that transformational worship will inspire the church to live for God's glory and testify to His goodness not just within our walls, but as a way of life.
I. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Possess and testify to a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior, with beliefs in harmony with BLB Statement of Faith and Core Values and willing to pursue membership at Bethesda.
B. Possess a passion to worship God and see others worship Him.
C. Demonstrates leadership, with a shepherd's heart towards both the congregation as a whole and those involved in music ministries.
D. Necessary to be an accomplished vocalist and musician, able to dynamically lead worship from keyboard and/or guitar.
E. Possess strong organizational and communication skills, and an ability to train and recruit volunteers.
F. Willingness to work in harmony with the Senior Pastor and the Worship Ministries Committee.
G. Several years of experience leading worship in a large church is preferred.
H. Possess both knowledge and comfort with traditional, contemporary and alternative styles of worship.
I. References and background check will affirm qualification for this ministry position.
II. ACCOUNTABILITY: The Worship Ministries Director is accountable first to God, and then to the congregation through the Elder Board and Senior Pastor. In day to day ministry, the Worship Director is accountable to the Senior Pastor . He/she works with the Worship Committee to establish policies and practices and coordinates his/her activities along with other staff of the church.
III. RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Maintain healthy personal spiritual study and prayer time, with a commitment to building and encouraging the Body of Christ.
B. Work closely with Senior Pastor, church staff and volunteer musicians to plan all congregational worship.
C. Act as the worship leader at several services each weekend and leading the necessary rehearsals.
D. Provide musical and spiritual instruction, guidance, standards and supervision to worship teams, soloists and choir director(s).
E. Recruit, encourage and train volunteers in all areas of worship ministries.
F. Coordinate all special music, sound and video technicians, worship teams and decorators for worship services.
G. Support choir director as necessary to carry out at least two special musical events per year.
H. Maintain and enhance the technical and aesthetic needs of the sanctuary.
