POSITION: Worship Leader
SUMMARY:
The Worship Leader is responsible for leading the music ministries to fulfill Joyful Harvest’s vision for worship.
WORSHIP VISION:
The praise team strives to lead Christ-centered, biblical worship that ushers people into God's presence. We endeavor to make worship spiritually grounded, family oriented, casual, contemporary, and relevant. We also desire to use music to communicate God's love to those who do not yet have a relationship with Him. Finally, worship at Joyful Harvest must be dynamic and life changing to support our mission of growing together for Christ.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Lead the music during weekly worship (two services) as well as Christmas, Easter, and other special worship events
-Meet weekly with the worship planning team to help develop creative theme-based worship experiences
-Listen to and learn contemporary Christian music (Praise & Worship genre)
-Select worship songs that are consistent with the worship themes and can be sung by the congregation (e.g. appropriate range and difficulty for praise team and congregation)
-Meet regularly with the pastor to keep open lines of communication
-Utilize pertinent online resources (e.g. SongSelect)
-Provide song list, team schedule, and music (both sheet and recorded) to the praise team prior to rehearsal
-Effectively rehearse the praise team, striving for excellence while encouraging an attitude of enjoyment in developing skills for the Lord (Ps 33:3, 1 Chron 25)
-Foster an attitude of continuous improvement (1 Chron 15:22)
-Cultivate sense of community within the group
-Effectively communicate with the praise team
-Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with the pastor, praise team, and congregation (Mt 5:23-24)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
-Seeks a growing faith and relationship with Christ (1 Pet 3:18)
-Ability to lead biblical, Christ-centered worship through music (1 Chron 15:22)
-Minimum of 2 years experience in or leading a worship band
-Ability to sing and play piano or guitar
-Organized and detail-oriented
-Strong written and oral communication skills
-Ability to lead and teach diverse group of volunteers
-Strong computer and internet skills
-Ability to lead the congregation in prayer
Preferred:
-Experience developing the quality of a praise team
-Ability to play piano/keyboard
-Experience leading praise and worship band
-Experience teaching music
-Formal training in music
-Familiarity with modern sound equipment
