Job Description:
MUSIC DIRECTOR
(Part time)


GENERAL: The Minister of Music shall be responsible for providing musical fellowship and music for worship services and other church events. He/she shall seek to provide music leadership, including music education for children through adult ages.

The Director of Music will:
1. Consult with the pastor regarding theme of each worship service, special programs, selection of hymns and choral music.

2. Direct music for all worship services with attention to the minister’s sermon(s) and liturgical year. This would include special or seasonal services with musical programs at Easter and Christmas.

3. Direct adult choir and manage weekly choir practice(s) approximately 1.5 hours.

4. Direct and/or recruit volunteers to assist in directing children's and youth choirs, instrumental and handbell groups.

5. Coordinate scheduling of soloists, ensembles, instrumentalists and guest musicians.

6. Provide music education opportunities for the entire church family.

7. Recruit and cultivate persons with musical skills as needed for the church.

8. Participate as a member of the church staff and member of the Music Committee

9. Be accountable to the Stratham Church Music Committee and reviewed annually by the Human Resources committee.


Qualifications: Minimum Bachelors degree in Music. Excellent organization and communication skills, experience developing and working with blended musical groups, ability to play the organ and piano proficiently.

This is a part-time position, approximately 10 hours/week, and is not eligible for benefits. Salary range $11,000-18,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
