Highland Hope UMC exists to share the love of God and to help people become lifelong, passionate followers of Jesus Christ. Our vision is to become a congregation whose focus is to meet the spiritual needs of the families of Highland and the surrounding areas by "Changing lives - one heart at a time!” as well as Have an Answer for the Hope (1 Peter 3:15). Highland Hope UMC is looking for a Youth/Associate to help develop, coordinate and administer an effective and comprehensive ministry to the church as well as provide leadership to volunteers and coordination of staff members. Responsibilities include: 1. Recruit and train volunteers for leadership. 2. Supervise the youth ministry program and enhance the worship, spiritual development, and fellowship of the youth as well as support the families of youth. 3. Develop and implement programs to effectively transition youth from one grade level to the next. 4. Counsel youth and parents who need guidance. 5. Establish departmental goals and objectives by prioritizing related programs, managing the use of facilities, planning an appropriate budget, delegating tasks and evaluating progress regularly. 6. Attend staff meetings, retreats, and board meetings. 7. Develop and implement a contemporary service for young adults. 8. Build relationships with members by visits and calls. 9. Assist in worship and preach at the request of the Senior Pastor. Oversee Sunday morning classes and weekly Bible studies. Qualifications: 1. Passion for helping others meet and develop a relationship with Jesus. 2. At least three years experience in a leadership role. 3. Healthy sense of humor. 4. Ability to be a role model and mentor by actions, words, and deeds. 5. College degree/divinity degree preferred. 6. Have a call to ministry. 7. Criminal Background Check required. 8. Growing an active relationship with Jesus. 9. Utilizing spiritual gifts of leadership, teaching and shepherding. 10. Ability to organize and have a “business sense.” Highland Hope UMC has about 300 members and is located 35 miles East of St. Louis, MO.
