Youth Ministries Pastor South Hills Bible Chapel McMurrary, PA Category: Youth Pastor Posted on: March 31, 2008
Job Description:
South Hills Bible Chapel is an independent, non-denominational church located in Peters Township, a southern suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We are distinctive for Bible-based preaching and teaching, and providing programs and curricula that encourage personal spiritual growth.
SHBC completed a major building project in 2006, adding a new sanctuary with capacity to seat 1,400, with additional potential to expand in the future. Our current weekend attendance is 1,600-1,800 over three services: one on Saturday evening, and two on Sunday morning. SHBC has a history of growth, and we anticipate God will continue to bless our church body with growth if we continue to be faithful in preaching and living the Word. We utilize a blended worship style to augment the Bible-based preaching. We maintain a dynamic and up-to-date website at biblechapel.org, and encourage you to learn more about us by visiting the website.
Youth Program
The weekly program consists of Sunday morning worship and a Wednesday night outreach and discipleship program. Attendance averages 110 youth and volunteers on Sunday morning, and 95 youth and volunteers on Wednesday evenings. With the size and demographics of our congregation and community, we believe this program has the potential to double or triple in size in coming years.
The previous youth program consisted of separate Junior and Senior High programs, each staffed with a pastor, and a shared administrative assistant. This staff oversaw the overall youth program and a large cadre of volunteers.
With the new Youth Ministries Pastor position we plan to combine both youth programs under a single leader. We believe this change will create a more unified and seamless youth program, with a singular vision that bridges Junior to Senior high. The position we are filling has responsibility to run the overall youth department (Jr. and Sr. High), and provides oversight to all staff and volunteers within the department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, and implement, long-range plans for youth ministries in collaboration with South Hills Bible Chapel leadership.
Teach the Bible to young people with clarity, creativity, and conviction, in a way that encourages high school students to personally engage with Jesus Christ.
Recruit and develop a core team of adult leaders who will partner in ministry to establish and sustain a large youth ministry program.
Establish standards for activities and oversee evaluation against those standards to identify progress toward objectives.
Provide counseling, pastoral care and visitation, as needed, among youth, their families, and volunteers working under your supervision.
Develop healthy relationships with parents/guardians of youth, providing resources for them to assist in their growth as Christian parents.
Required Strengths, Gifts, and Talents:
An expressed testimony of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and a demonstrated under
