Director of Music Ministries (Full Time): First Congregational Church (UCC) 122 Broad Street, Guilford, CT 06437, 203-453-5249; 1100 member congregation in historic New England town on Long Island Sound seeks energetic, creative, dynamic, and enthusiastic leader for a thriving music program spiritually centered in church music ministry; Austin pipe org (1981) 3 manual, 38 rank; Ibach grand piano in sanctuary; 3 rank Guittari portative organ (1997) in Chapel. Provide organ, piano, and choral music for 2 Traditional Services weekly: 8:30 & 10:00 am; monthly Contemporary Service; seasonal services (Lent/ Easter/ Advent/ Christmas); and other special services. Direct Sr. Choir (35-50 voices) and Hand Bell Choirs (beginner, youth, intermediate, 5x5); attend weekly Staff mtgs, monthly Music Committee mtgs; monthly Church Council mtgs.; Weddings/Funerals; teaching privileges. Oversee 2 Youth Choirs (K-2nd and 3rd-8th) (50 total separate directors). Worship services blend wide variety of music from traditional to contemporary - music is truly a hallmark of the church. Extensive music library. Superior skills as organist, pianist, choir director and administrator are essential. Will work as integral member of vibrant, enthusiastic, and exceptional church staff. Ideal candidate will have experience with hand bells and youth choirs, along with the skills to teach, inspire, and work with all levels of ability. Graduate training in sacred music a plus. Will be a musical resource for the congregation at large. SALARY: $45K-$49K, full benefits, 4 wks paid vacation. His arranging has appeared on recordings side by side with greats like Gene Puerling and David Maddux, and he has sung with Don Shelton, Bonnie Herman and Bob Bowker, among others.
