Apply for This Job Save to My ChurchJobs Email This Job to a Friend Printer-friendly version Music Director Cambrian Park United Methodist Church San Jose, CA Category: Music Minister & Worship Pastor Posted on: February 28, 2008   Job Description: PART-TIME MUSIC DIRECTOR Requirements: A church musician who can conduct Christian music (classical, choral, praise) and play piano and/or guitar. A positive team player who has experience working with church choirs and/or vocal ensembles. This person answers to the Pastor. BA or MA Degree in Music with strong vocal technique and church choral conducting experience. Pluses include strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Primary responsibilities: 1. Conducts and leads our Worship Choir and vocal ensemble sub-sets. 2. Coaches and leads our developing Praise Team, musicians and vocalists. Time Commitments: 3 hours on site Weekly rehearsals on Thursdays from 6-9 PM 6:00-7:30 PM Praise Team 7:30-9:00 PM Worship Choir/ vocal ensembles 4 hours on site Weekly worship services on Sundays from 8 AM – Noon This includes warm-ups for choir and praise team. (Currently there is one worship with plans for a second) Total hours on site = 7 hours Prep hours = 3 hours Total hours = 10 hours Included in this base contract are two Christmas Eve worship services and one additional Holy Week worship service (Holy Thursday or Good Friday). Arrangements must be made in advance to cover conducting of choir and praise team when absent. Additional opportunities for the Music Director not included in this base contract are: • Musical Direction for ACT UP! productions involving music or musical theatre; • Special concerts and other musical events. These are negotiated at the going hourly rate as a separate production stipend. Pluses:  Strong professional ethics and good people and communication skills.  A warm and encouraging attitude for people with all skill levels.  Enthusiasm for the United Methodist Church (diverse, progressive Christian) Terms of employment: This is a part-time position year-round with four weeks paid vacation per year.
