POSITION: Choir Director
REPORTS TO: Head of Staff
OVERVIEW
Located on a 20-acre campus setting, Concord Liberty Presbyterian Church is a growing, dynamic, disciple-making church that is committed to evangelize, nurture, and equip the church body for discipleship and service. We are strategically located in the middle of a rapidly growing school district with our campus surrounded by both the high school and middle school. We seek a highly motivated, musically capable, person of vision to coordinate and lead a traditional adult and in the future a children’s choir.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Choir Director is a part-time position (8 -10 Hours) dedicated to Concord Liberty's Traditional Worship Service. The Choir Director will maintain a deep commitment to the spiritual and musical needs of the church working through traditional music to strengthen the church body. The successful candidate must have a mentoring presence and possess the necessary interpersonal and musical skills to implement this program while enhancing the skills of the participants.
This position reports directly to the Head of Staff and is also under the counsel and evaluation of the Worship Committee and the Personnel Committee.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate carries out this position by:
• Planning and coordinating the choral program used during the traditional Worship service ensuring that all musical aspects of the service advance the theme that the pastor has set for the day.
• Arrive at least .5 hour prior to the Sunday service in order to rehearse choir in morning selection.
• Directs choral selections during the traditional service.
• Recruiting, nurturing, training and directing a volunteer choir(s) and others with special music ability to implement the traditional music program.
• Works closely with Organist both on Sunday and at rehearsals to help ensure that the overall musical program is appropriate to the themes being presented by the pastor.
• Responsible for special presentations of music such as those at Christmas, Easter and at other times that might be suitable for the overall enhancement of the music program of the church.
• Scheduling, attending and leading weekly rehearsals for the choir (s).
