To provide leadership and shepherding oversight of the ministry of the church, with emphasis upon preaching and teaching, casting of vision and motivating the body to accomplish the church’s missional strategy, to the end that our world might be eternally impacted by helping people become dynamic disciples of Jesus Christ.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Service as a member of the elders’ team, partnering in the proclamation of the mission and vision of Evergreen and in the oversight of its ministries.
2. Direct shepherding oversight and involvement in particular church ministries as assigned by the elders’ team.
3. Exercise of spiritual leadership to fellow elders, staff and ministry directors.
4. Regular preaching and teaching of God’s Word in main services with clarity, passion and relevance, such that the spiritual development of the congregation is nurtured and encouraged.
5. Teaching within the educational program of the church as needed and leadership in ensuring effective biblical teaching at its every level.
6. Occasional biblical counseling.
7. Collaboration with other staff and leadership in corporate worship planning.
8. Leadership of staff, ministry directors and ministry teams in development of ministry and program in step with the mission and vision of the church.
9. Equipping of staff and lay leadership for ministry growth and effectiveness and raising-up and development of new leaders among church membership.
10. Participation with elders, staff and directors in assessment of needs and evaluation of ministry effectiveness.
11. Development and oversight of a missional strategy within the community, in collaboration with elders, staff and directors.
12. Active engagement with the whole body of Evergreen as demonstrated but not limited to participation in regular and special services and church-wide events, faithful giving and enthusiastic support of its varied ministries.
13. Participation in staff meetings, retreats, leader’s workshops and other leadership assemblies.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
2. Maintenance of an exemplary Christian life, characterized by the biblical traits of an elder, the practice of spiritual disciplines and a mature understanding of God’s Word.
3. Exemplary relationship with family.
4. Theologically conservative and in total agreement with Evergreen’s Statement of Faith, Mission, Vision and Core Values.
5. Spiritual gifts: Leadership, Teaching, Preaching and Shepherding.
6. Commitment to and demonstration of servant leadership.
7. Lifestyle of redemptive relationships for the purpose of sharing the gospel with others.
8. Seven or more years experience as an Associate or Lead Pastor of a multi-staff church with weekly attendance of at least 500.
9. Seminary degree or equivalent combination of education
