Pastoral Job Description English PastorOversight (1 Pet.5:2-3)
Oversee the English speaking congregation of the Evangelical Formosan Church. Oversight would include the direction/formation/implementation of the English ministry including Sunday Service, Sunday School, Outreach, Inreach, Fellowships, Bible Studies, Facilities, Childrens ministry, Youth ministry, etc.
Oversee the deacons, elders of the English Board in their service of the church
Develop, train and disciple the leadership team as well as the church as a whole
Work with existing pastors who are in charge of EFC South Bay or of their particular congregation
Teaching-Training (Eph. 4:11-13)
Preparation and Preaching relevant and appropriate, Biblical messages during Sunday Service
Occasionally teach Sunday School and lead Bible Studies
Train and disciple the deacons, elders, and other members of the leadership team
Coordinate guest speakers for fellowship and/or Sunday School
Train the youth leaders for the youth Friday night fellowship
Administration (1 Co 12:27)
Meet with the EFC-South Bay senior pastor, Pastor Isaac Hsu, for communication and prayer meetings
Recruit train and oversee the adult volunteers to work in the various ministries.
Attend church staff and church affiliated meetings as required (including meeting with other local EFC English pastors
Meet with the board on a regular basis for planning, prayer, administration and direction of the English congregation
Pastoral Care (1 Pet 5:2-3)
Carry out pastoral care through counseling, prayer, visitation as appropriate. Visitation might include, but is not limited to, home or hospital visits, phone calls, e-mail/internet chat, or time out together such as restaurants, sporting events, etc.
As appropriate, mediate conflicts and church discipline when necessary according to scripture and to the procedures outlined in the EFC bylaws
Organize, oversee, and participate in activities that might promote pastoral care for fellowship members
Appear, attend at local or regional EFC events as necessary
Meet with the congregation, parents, children, etc. as needed

As the ministry grows the above responsibilities may change to adapt to the current ministry needs

Qualification: Holding a M. Div. or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary with 5-10+ years of ministry experience. Preferences for Position/Candidates: We would prefer a married candidate with children. Furthermore, we are looking for someone who has at least five to ten or more years of pastoral experience.
