Title: Director of Music
Reports to: Worship Department
Consults and Plans With: Pastor and Worship Committee
Supervises: Organist and guest musicians
Duties:
1. Supervises music program, music employees, and guest musicians
2. Administers music budget.
3. Serves as conductor of the Chancel Choir and other choirs which may be developed
during his/her administration.
4. Plans and administers the program of choral music for the church year.
5. Submits listings of anthems and choral responses for morning worship services
on a monthly basis
6. Select hymns for congregational worship in cooperation with the pastor
7. Rehearses at least weekly with all choirs under his/her responsibility.
8. Establishes monthly schedule for weekly performance of soloists.
9. Develops and maintains the summer music schedule.
10. Arranges for supplemental instrumental music in Sunday morning worship services
as authorized and budgeted.
11. Develops special vesper services and music series programs as budgets allow.
Coordinates music leadership of prayer breakfasts as requested.
12. Recruits choir members as needed.
13. Participate in monthly meeting as part of staff meeting.
Education:
1. Minimum Bachelors in Music
2. Experience desired but not required.

Supervises: Assistant Organist/Substitute Organist as appointed
Duties:
1. Serves as church organist and music worship leader on a 12 month basis.
2. Plans and administers the program of organ music for the church year.
3. Serves as recitalist in special vesper and music series programs of the Worship
Department and Music Committee.
4. Selects hymns for congregational worship and submits listings on a monthly
basis.
5. Plans and administers congregational music enrichment program.
6. Rehearses with soloists prior to performance.
7. Supervises organ and piano maintenance and tuning.
8. Serves as pianist/organist for church activities sponsored or programmed
by the Worship Department.
9. Assists in the administration of the Music Series.
Organ Description: The instrument is a fifty year old Casavant pipe organ completely
refurbished in 1980. It has four manuals, forty-one ranks and 2,697 pipes.
