POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Worship
§ Writes and oversees the production of all Sunday services
§ Selects, mentors, and coaches the members of the Sunday worship teams
§ Rehearses and directs worship teams
§ Oversees and promotes the addition and expansion of choral and instrumental groups through the selection, mentoring, and coaching of leaders
§ Oversees the leaders and the production of creative elements in worship, i.e., dramas, art, video/visual additions, etc.
§ Oversees the selection and training of all sound techs
§ Assists in Kingdom growth and church planting efforts through providing staff leadership and support for the formation and/or development of worship teams that serve Celebrate Recovery, youth ministries, and new church plants
Preaching and Teaching
§ Preaches as scheduled
§ Teaches classes as desired, needed and scheduled
§ Participates in lay leadership development
Staff Support (after 1 to 1 ˝ years)
§ To function as the day-to-day “coach” for all ministry staff leaders and provide primary leadership in the area of staff development and training for fulfilling the mission and vision of First Lutheran Church
POSITION SKILLS:
§ Possesses above average vocal skills, as well as the ability to provide vocal leadership to congregations, choirs, and groups
§ Personally possesses instrumental skills and is able to direct individuals with instrumental skills, and is knowledgeable in all instruments used within worship
§ Possesses the ability to delegate and bring out the best in people
§ Possesses the strength of character to empower and involve others in ministry
§ Is able to select, mentor, motivate, and coach volunteer leaders and staff
§ Has above average oral and written communication skills
§ Is a self-starter that works with minimum guidance and sees every effort through to completion
§ Is enthusiastic about, and has had exposure to various worship forms and styles of music
§ Is competent in writing and developing invitational forms of worship
§ Has a high energy level
§ Is willing to make a long-term commitment
§ Has, or is willing to acquire, a working knowledge of Lutheran doctrine
