Job Description:
Bethel Presbyterian Church, a dynamic, growing church of approximately 1000 members located in Cornelius, North Carolina, a suburb of Charlotte, is looking for a Director of Music Ministries. This person will provide energetic and imaginative leadership for all of Bethel’s music ministries, which include choirs for all ages, hand bells for youth and adults, and a variety of vocal and instrumental soloists and ensembles. Music plays a key role in the two relaxed traditional worship services held each week at Bethel.
The right person for this position will possess: ·a heart for the Lord. As worship is a central aspect of church life at Bethel, the Director of Music Ministries must be an enthusiastic and dedicated Christian who facilitates opportunities to worship. The Director of Music Ministries must support: o Bethel’s vision which is to be a people “Changed by the Word and Changing the World” o and our mission statement “…to praise and worship God, to proclaim His redeeming grace through Jesus Christ to all people….” · exceptional musical skills with emphasis on directing. Ability in piano and classical organ is a decided plus. · strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate with the pastors, other staff members, musicians and sound technicians, leaders of Bethel’s various other ministries and the congregation; · an ability to organize and provide leadership to a professional and volunteer music staff, and to coordinate and schedule Bethel’s music ministry, including overseeing music planning and implementation, managing a budget, involving and scheduling an expanding number of volunteer musicians for worship services, coordinating music with drama and visual arts and raising up emerging musical leaders.
