Position Opening: Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries. Starting date: mid-July, 2005. Deadline for applications: April 30, 2005. This vacancy is occurring because the incumbent is entering seminary.
The Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries is responsible for faith formation, religious education and activities for the youth of St. John’s, from sixth through twelfth grades, as well as opportunities for young adults ages 18 – 30. The ministry of this position is to empower the youth and young adults of St. John’s to lead a life in Christ, with traditions of the Episcopal Church strongly in mind. This job requires a sincere love of young people, organization, team building and delegation. A key initiative at St. John’s is broadening youth participation. The new Director will collaborate with the Youth Program Committee to develop and implement a vision for new opportunities for youth and young adults. The Director will collaborate closely with the Director of Children’s Ministries. Chief duties include:
• Directing the St. John’s Youth Program and supporting the youth of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Longmont. On-site work at St. Stephen’s averages 2 hours per week.
• Continuing the development of young adult ministry, including worship and outreach.
• Planning and organizing community forums and other educational series for youth and young adults.
• Delivering the Journey to Adulthood program.
• Planning and organizing yearly mission trips, leadership retreats and Episcopal summer camp.
• Implementing service projects for youth and young adults, such as the Thanksgiving Food Drive.
• Administering the Youth Program budget.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree and experience leading youth programs. Episcopalians are preferred. This position reports to the Associate Rector, The Reverend Nancee Martin-Coffey. The new Director will be ¾ time or full-time, depending on qualifications, skills and experience in young adult program development. Salary: minimum $25,000 for 3/4 time.
