Pastor of Worship Arts General Profile
This position calls for a person with an enthusiastic presence who is visionary and creative in the ways and means of leading people to God through worship. This spiritually mature Christian possesses musical talent, leadership experience, and demonstrates these characteristics both during worship and in his/her personal life. The Pastor of Worship and Music Ministry is a people-oriented team builder who has first, and foremost, a shepherd’s heart and attitude toward growing worship.
Musical Requirements
Minimum 5-7 years experience leading contemporary worship in a church with large congregation (500+). Must possess strong liaison, coordination and team skills working with sound, media, vocal and instrumental teams; can recruit and develop others to lead and contribute to the worship process; knowledge of musical instrumentation and sound technology; strong singing ability and can demonstrate excellence in performance and delivery of worship genres.
Spiritual Requirements
Candidates for this position must have made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and must demonstrate the reality of that relationship through their life and testimony. As in all church leadership positions, candidate’s personal, financial and spiritual situations are above reproach and must meet the qualifications for an elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4). This person possesses a “Shepherd’s heart” and attitude toward all members of the congregation and is a pastor first, then a musician.
Administrative Requirements
Candidate is a self-motivated, highly motivated leader who can effectively manage multiple priorities and assignments, experienced in team building and motivation, and have a healthy perspective working with volunteers. This person provides worship at all services and church-sponsored events. Responsibilities include departmental budget preparation and short and long term goal setting for the Worship Ministry. This person reports directly to Senior Pastor and performs additional duties as required.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, coursework in theological studies, seminary instruction or other pastoral education

Paul's work includes arranging for groups like GLAD, Voices of Liberty, VoiceTrek, The Chicago based "Caroling Party" and Day of Discovery Singers. His arranging has appeared on recordings side by side with greats like Gene Puerling and David Maddux, and he has sung with Don Shelton, Bonnie Herman and Bob Bowker, among others.
