Apply for This Job Elementary Ministry Coordinator Myers Park Presbyterian Church Charlotte, NC Posted: May 17, 2018     Job Information: Job Title: ELEMENTARY MINISTRY COORDINATOR Ministry Team: Children and their Families Reports To: Associate Pastor for Children and Their Families FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Salaried Date Prepared:January 2018 SUMMARY This half-time position establishes, strengthens, and maintains programs within the Children and Their Families Ministry that will enable children to grow and develop as disciples of Jesus Christ. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in a related field along with relevant church experience involving children, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Some training in Christian Education preferred. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reports to the Associate Pastor for Children and their Families, and works collegially with other team members in Children's Ministry to provide a vibrant ministry to and with children and their families, with particular responsibility for elementary-aged children. Plans, administrates, and resources Sunday morning activities, mid-week activities, Vacation Bible School, and other programs for children and families, with emphasis on elementary-aged children, including support of teachers and leaders, coordination of curriculum and supplementary resources, training of volunteer staff, and teaching as needed. Coordinates mission opportunities for children and families. Coordinates the Milestones Ministry programs for Elementary-aged children and families. Develops new opportunities for Elementary –aged children and families to learn and grow as disciples. Keeps classroom supplies stocked and organized for Elementary ministries. Teaches in and assists with other Children's Ministry program needs as part of a team. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Pastor for Children and Their Families. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Demonstrate a noticeable amount of maturity, high energy, and enthusiasm to relate to those served (children, volunteers and families). Display an understanding of activities and programs that will attract and retain children and their families. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the work of teachers, church members, and parents. Display the knowledge and understanding required to work with the complexities of ministry in a large church. Demonstrate administrative and organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments at one time. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team to assess needs and produce results. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships. Ability to effectively communicate through verbal, written, and electronic means. Ability to recognize potential disciplinary, safety, and security issues. Communicate the issues to pastoral staff diplomatically, timely, and fairly. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to anticipate and solve problems. Ability to use Microsoft Office and the internet. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS The employee is occasionally required to be mobile throughout the building and off-site for functions. The employee may be required to lift or move up to ten pounds.
