The Director of Children's and Family Ministries gives creative leadership to the children's and families' ministries of Bloomington First United Methodist Church. Ministry responsibilities: Takes work direction from, reports to, and is accountable to the Senior Director of Children's, Family, and Youth Ministries; and the Pastors of the church. Tasks include, but are not limited to: Work with supervising Senior Director, Children's Council, and other church leadership, to develop, articulate, and deploy a Christ-centered philosophy for faith development (building disciples) within and through the children's and family ministries at First Methodist Meet with and give direction to Children's Council with education plans, curriculum, and overall development of children's and family ministries Develop and direct process for recruiting, training, and deploying volunteer leaders for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, children's worship, and other education ministry settings Supervise and train child care and nursery leaders for Sunday morning and other church events, including paid nursery staff person Attend meetings of First Methodist Staff, Church Council, Children's Council, assigned staff teams, and various short term planning groups as needed Set annual professional ministry goals with supervising Senior Director and participate in ongoing supervision and review Other duties as the ministry requires and directed by supervising Senior Director and Pastors
