JOB TITLE: Youth Ministry Coordinator
LOCATION: Waterloo, IA
REPORTS TO: Lead Pastor
FLSA STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

SUMMARY
The Youth Ministry Coordinator will create a compelling and creative Wednesday night ministry environment that connects a diverse group of middle and high school students to the gospel and mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties, in addition to these, may be assigned.
Create a relevant environment for students that includes practical teaching, worship, technology, and authentic community.
Serve as the primary teacher/communicator/shepherd on Wednesday nights.
Create a programming calendar that includes topics, series, events, and trips.
Identify, train, and deploy volunteers – greeters, meals, small group leaders, etc.
Connect with a diverse group of students, both ethnically and socioeconomically.
Equip students to be on mission in their schools.
Attend games, concerts, and other school-related events.
Build relationships with key teachers, principals, and administrators.
Build relationships with parents of students.
Use web, email, text, apps, and social media to promote the ministry and connect with students and parents.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coaches, develops, and encourages Wednesday night volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Part or all of a Bachelor degree preferred, but not required.
Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
1-3 years prior youth ministry experience, volunteer or paid, is preferred.

Exhibits an abiding relationship and commitment to Christ and his mission, as evidenced in his/her personal life, family relationships, and ministry so as to be an example and leader to others.
Possesses strong relational and listening skills with ability to develop effective personal connections.
Effective at shepherding and team building, with the ability to lead with a spirit of discernment.
Ability to understand and support Hope City's unique vision and effectively apply established systems and processes to guide self and others toward the realization of the vision.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups. Ability to effectively communicate verbally with church members, vendors, and other employees of the organization, using proper grammar without dialect or slang.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems efficiently and effectively while maintaining good working relationships.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work assignments will include attendance at meetings and events in a building which is multi-level with several sets of stairs, but is handicap accessible and equipped with an elevator. It is a nonsmoking environment.
