DIRECTOR OF MINISTRY JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary: Director of Ministry serves to develop, oversee and supervise ministry programs at Crossroads to achieve our mission of Glorify Jesus through Reaching Others, Growing Spiritually and Helping those in need.
General Description: Part of the Executive Leadership to organize, develop and administer a Ministry Program that is growing, mission-driven, outreach-focused and spiritually structured.
Essential Competencies:
Supervisory skills including giving clear expectations and setting clear vision for ministry area.
Hiring and staffing skills including identifying new talent.
Project management skills including developing a plan, achieving objectives, and communicating progress.
Communication skills including sharing execution of strategy to all ministry leaders.
Problem-solving skills including conflict management and negotiation skills.
Team-building orientation skills including demonstrating interest, skills, and success in team environments.
Organizational agility including knowledge of congregational work and how to get things done.
Essential Tasks:
Executes the strategy as set by the Directing Pastor for discipleship ministries from birth through adults including responsibility for ministry areas and lay teams.
Oversees all ministry programs
Supervises ministry staff
Oversees lay ministry teams
Provides general ministry management and communication
Oversees the marketing strategy
Where appropriate, provides pastoral care that includes counseling, wedding and funerals when needed
Required Meetings:
Weekly Executive Leadership Team meetings.
Weekly staff meetings.
Weekly check-in meetings with direct reports.
Lay Team meetings as needed to provide guidance to teams.
Other meetings as scheduled and pertinent to the job description.
Hours and Schedule:
Hours to include regular church office hours
Additional hours when required to complete projects
Evening hours for lay team meetings
Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor, servant's heart and a can-do-attitude
