Senior Pastor Job Description
The Senior Pastor of Desert Son Community Church (DSCC) has primary gifting and passion in pursuing God and communicating His Word. He believes in the inerrancy of scripture and has a deep desire to share the Gospel and make disciples. The Senior Pastor's responsibilities will be to provide leadership (in partnership with the Elder Board) for the entire work of the church, develop, lead and encourage staff, cast vision in the development of ministry, provide pastoral care and oversee administrative functions.
EXPECTATIONS
Takes on the primary role of casting and maintaining the Vision of DSCC
He sets the pace for the pursuit of God and a love of God's word
Deliver God's word accurately and effectively as to encourage and inspire
Participate on the Elder Board as they establish and implement the Church's Vision, Mission and Values
Demonstrates a capacity to disciple men for lay and vocational ministry
Commitment to share the Gospel as a lifestyle.
Lead and develop staff to accomplish the Vision, Mission and Values
Shepherd the congregation by relationally connecting and caring for the DSCC community
Perform other pastoral duties as needed or required (i.e., counseling, hospital visitations, weddings, funerals, involvement in community, visiting missionaries, etc.)
A long-term commitment to DSCC
QUALIFICATIONS
Committed, passionate, and compelling personal relationship with and genuine love for the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word
A man of integrity, spiritual maturity, and financial stability who places priority on his marriage with his wife, and role as a father to his children
Accepted God's call into pastoral ministry and meets the biblical qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
Wholehearted agreement with the DSCC 10-Point Statement of Faith
Bachelor's degree from an accredited Bible college or university
At least 5 years pastoral experience with a proven track record of leading a multi-staff team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
M.A., M.Div or Th.M degree in theology or pastoral leadership from an evangelical seminary
Possesses strong organizational and administrative abilities, including the use of technology
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong understanding of Scripture, theology, apologetics, and expository preaching
Effective oral and written communications skills
Problem-solving and conflict management skills
PRE-HIRING REQUIREMENTS
A call is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and drug test
