Purpose The purpose of the Director of Music Ministries is to help musicians and the congregation grow as disciples of Jesus Christ through worship and music. B. Job Information Classification: Program Staff; Salaried; Full-Time Supervisor: Pastor- weekly meeting Work Schedule: Weekends- Sunday morning, and other times as required Workweek- To be negotiated Salary: Negotiable, based on experience; benefits included C. Responsibilities a. Work closely with the Pastor to select and coordinate all worship music activities for the Christian year. b. Directs, not accompany, the Chancel Choir, from September through the second weekend in June, in worship services as well as special services, such as, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Mother's Day and Veteran's Day. c. Provides appropriate music for services on Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Christmas Eve and other special services as requested by the Pastor. d. Provide service music, organ and piano, on Sunday mornings and other planned worship services or events. e. Coordinate and support Lay Volunteer Directors of the Children's Choirs- Angel Choir and Junior Praise Choir. f. Coordinate the annual Children's Musical. g. Coordinate and support Lay Volunteer Director of Bell Choirs. h. Meets as needed for worship planning with the Pastor and Worship Committee. i. Regularly attends meetings of the Church Council- Team Leaders in Christ. j. Recruits new members for the choirs and seeks to improve the music program on an ongoing basis. k. Provide music biweekly for Daycare and Preschool programs l. All other duties as assigned. D. Qualifications a. Bachelor of Music Degree preferred b. Previous experience in church music, both traditional and contemporary E. Specific Knowledge and Skills a. Communication and relationship building skills b. Organizational and administrative skills, including effectiveness in handling details c. Working knowledge of choral rehearsal techniques and conducting d. Knowledge of traditional and contemporary Christian music e.
