The Senior Pastor is responsible for providing vision and overall direction and administration of church ministries, operations, programs and services and shall have full authority to exercise the biblical responsibilities of a pastor as stated in scripture. He is also responsible for exercising his spiritual gifts and skills in proclamation and ministerial care to provide leadership and nourishment for the church and to help meet the spiritual needs of people in the church and community.
Pray, study and minister the Word of God. (Acts 6:4, 1 Cor. 12:18, 27-28)
Be an example to the congregation to visibly demonstrate victorious Christian living and service. (1 Pet. 5:3, Ezra 7:10)
Promote the spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, social and vocational welfare of his own family. (1 Tim. 5:8, 3:4, 5, 11, 12: Titus 1:6)
Proclaim the good news of the gospel concerning the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ as personal Savior. (2 Tim. 2:10-14)
Declare the whole counsel of God to the congregation especially in situations where the lives, beliefs or character of the people conflict with the Scriptures. (2 Tim. 4:2)
Guard the church against the teaching of false doctrine. (Titus 1:10, 11, 14; Heb. 13:9)
Give oversight to the activities and services of the church. (1 Cor. 12:28; 2 Cor. 11:28; Heb. 13:7, 17)
Be involved in training and equipping other for a lifetime of Christian service (2 Tim. 2:2; Eph. 4:11)
Encourage the exercise of the spiritual gifts of all believers in the church and work to provide all Biblically qualified believers an opportunity to serve Christ by exercising those gifts. (1 Cor. 12:4-31)
Help spiritually qualified individuals work in positions of service and ensure the needs of these individuals are met by the church so they succeed in serving Christ. (Titus 1:5; Eph. 4:11-16)
Promote the spiritual welfare of the church and the body of Christ worldwide through Bible conferences, Biblical seminars, counseling, training sessions and mission projects outside the local area. (Acts 1:8; Matt. 28:19, 20)
Counsel individuals concerning personal Biblical issues to aid them in avoiding future problems or in remedying problems already encountered. (1 Thess. 5:14)
Exercise Biblical discipline on church members who are disobedient to the Scriptures. (1 Thess. 5:14; Titus 3:10)
